Waning Moon correction

Locked at publication · 05 October 2026, 16:21 UTC
Prediction
Following Bitcoin's post-Full-Moon advance and the FM+6 high/rejection around the $87k region, I predict that Bitcoin will enter a corrective/consolidation phase during the waning Moon. Between now and the next New Moon, I expect Bitcoin to form a sequence of lower highs rather than establish a sustained breakout to new highs. The correction does not necessarily require a major collapse. The principal prediction is declining upside momentum and lower highs as Bitcoin approaches the New Moon. Around the New Moon, I expect Bitcoin to establish a new local low/turning region. From that area, I expect the market to begin another bullish phase, ultimately resuming the larger daily Cup & Handle breakout and moving towards its existing measured target of approximately $100,000–$103,000. Invalidation: A sustained breakout above the current ~$87k resistance/high region before the New Moon, followed by acceptance and continued higher highs, would invalidate the lower-high portion of the prediction. Result: Pending.
Objective test criteria
The prediction will be considered supported if all three stages occur: 1. Waning-phase structure: Between 5 October and the next New Moon, Bitcoin fails to establish sustained acceptance above the current ~$87,000–$87,400 resistance/high region and produces a generally declining sequence of significant swing highs. 2. New Moon turning point: Bitcoin establishes a qualifying local low during the predefined New Moon T0:T+3 calendar-day window, using the existing frozen strict-local-low methodology: the candidate day's daily LOW must be below the lows of the preceding three and following three daily candles. 3. Post-New-Moon recovery: Following that qualifying low, Bitcoin reverses upward and subsequently resumes the larger bullish structure, initially demonstrated by breaking the final significant lower high formed during the waning phase. Longer term, progress toward the existing $100,000–$103,000 Cup & Handle target will be tracked separately rather than required immediately to score the lunar timing prediction.
Invalidation criteria
The waning-phase prediction is invalidated if Bitcoin establishes a sustained bullish breakout above ~$87,400 before the New Moon and subsequently forms higher highs rather than the predicted lower-high structure. The New Moon component fails if no qualifying strict local low occurs during T0:T+3 under the frozen methodology. The post-New-Moon bullish-resumption component fails if a qualifying New Moon low occurs but Bitcoin subsequently breaks materially lower rather than reversing and eventually reclaiming the final significant waning-phase lower high. A temporary intraday wick above ~$87,400 does not by itself invalidate the prediction; sustained acceptance/market structure above that level is required.
Prediction: FM+4 Triangle Breakout
Bitcoin is currently consolidating near $83,500–$84,000 within a mature 4-hour symmetrical triangle following the recent move from approximately $75,000 to above $87,000.
My prediction is that Bitcoin will resolve this triangle to the upside within the next 24 hours, with an initial breakout through the descending resistance around $84,000–$84,500.
A sustained breakout accompanied by increasing volume would strengthen the case for a move back toward $85,000–$86,000, followed by a potential retest of the recent high around $87,000.
Why this prediction is being made
Three independent factors are converging.
Lunar timing: Bitcoin is entering approximately FM+4, close to the FM+4.4 average identified in our recent historical Full Moon research. The broader historical study also found a median relationship around FM+6, making the next several days the predefined Full Moon observation window.
Technical structure: BTC has compressed into an increasingly tight 4H symmetrical triangle. Price is now approaching the apex, making a volatility expansion increasingly likely. The triangle itself is direction-neutral; the upward direction is the specific prediction being tested.
Macro catalyst: Significant US economic data is scheduled for today at approximately 13:15–13:30 BST, including employment, GDP and inflation-related releases. These could provide a catalyst for the volatility required to resolve the technical compression.
What counts as confirmation?
The prediction will be considered technically confirmed if Bitcoin produces a decisive breakout above the triangle's descending resistance, preferably followed by a 4H close above it and increasing trading volume.
Further confirmation would come from:
Upside breakout within 24 hours.
A wick above resistance that immediately returns inside the triangle will not be considered sufficient confirmation.
What would invalidate the prediction?
The prediction should be considered unsuccessful if:
- BTC decisively breaks the triangle to the downside;
- support around approximately $82.5–83k fails with expanding selling volume; or
- no meaningful upside breakout occurs within the stated 24-hour prediction window.
The time window will not be extended retrospectively if the breakout occurs later.
Experimental significance
This prediction was recorded before the triangle resolved and before today's US economic data was known.
The Bitcoin vs The Moon hypothesis does not propose that the Full Moon causes a Bitcoin move. Instead, this experiment is testing whether lunar timing windows repeatedly coincide with significant Bitcoin turning points or volatility events when considered alongside technical structure, volume and identifiable real-world catalysts.
If today's economic releases trigger the breakout, the releases provide a plausible market catalyst. The experimental question remains whether the fact that the technical compression and catalyst occur during the predefined FM+4/+4.4 timing window proves repeatable across future observations.
",
